Emma Potts is a Virginia-based soprano whose career spans opera, concert repertoire, and musical theatre. She earned both her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in Vocal Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, located in Cleveland, Ohio. 

During her time at CIM, Emma performed a wide range of operatic roles, including Younger Alyce in Tom Cipullo’s Glory Denied, Belinda in Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Alma/Mother Earth in Emma Cardon-Wake’s A Storm We Call Progress, and Mama Bird in Philip Glass’s The Juniper Tree. In 2024, Emma completed a Young Artist Program in Salzburg, Austria, where she was named a winner of the Mirabell Vocal Competition.

In addition to her work in opera, Emma has also found a love for musical theatre, drawn to its unique blend of storytelling and music. In 2025, she joined the cast of The Sound of Music at Riverside Center for the Performing Arts in Fredericksburg, Virginia, covering the role of Maria.

Whether performing on the operatic stage, in the concert hall, or in musical theatre, Emma is passionate about using music to tell meaningful stories and create genuine connections with audiences.

Alongside her stage work, Emma appears regularly as a soprano soloist with orchestras and ensembles throughout Central Virginia. A passionate and versatile performer, she enjoys presenting a wide variety of repertoire, from classical masterworks and orchestral favorites to holiday concerts and contemporary works. Her recent concert engagements include appearances with the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Health Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, the Richmond Pops Band, and the Randolph-Macon College Wind Ensemble, where she has been featured as both a soloist and guest artist.

In the fall of 2026, Emma looks forward to returning to perform with the VCU Health Orchestra for their 10th Year Anniversary Concert and joining the Richmond Pops Band for their annual Veterans Day Concert. She will also be performing the role of Mary in the upcoming original production of The Gift of Jesus with MVBC Productions.
